2025: Nordic Innovation project strengthens collaboration on testbeds
Ocean Valley and Nordic partners are currently conducting a Nordic Innovation–funded project exploring how ports across the region can function as open and accessible maritime testbeds for startups, SME’s, and researchers.
The project engages stakeholders from all Nordic countries and is laying the groundwork for a future Nordic network of maritime test and demonstration environments. -

2025: Transforming a CCUS spin-off initiative into a 3-year project
Building on the strong momentum from the spin-off initiative, CMP, E.ON, Ocean Valley and 7 other partners have joined forces to propose the establishment of a CCUS Center of Excellence in the Øresund region. The three-year initiative has been submitted to the EU programme Interreg ØKS and is now under review.

2024: Launch of the CCUS spin-off initiative
CMP, E.ON and Ocean Valley jointly lead the spin-off initiative “Øresund Region as a World-Leading CCUS Center of Excellence.”
Co-financed by Interreg Øresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak (ØKS), the project brought together 58 key stakeholders across the CCUS value chain, strengthening the foundation for cross-border collaboration in the region. -

2024: Finalizing proof-of-concept (POC) projects
Ocean Valley has highlighted the Øresund region’s unique capacity for collaboration and its strong dedication to open, cross-border innovation.
Through the POC projects, 11 work packages were completed, 8 partners actively contributed, and the work resulted in the creation of a focused spin-off initiative. -

2022: Collaborative vision-shaping workshop
Key stakeholders from both sides of Øresund joined workshops facilitated by CMP and EY to establish a shared scope and purpose.

2019: Strategic birth of Ocean Valley
Ocean Valley emerged from Copenhagen Malmö Port’s strategic ambition to become one of the world’s most sustainable ports. The initiative was conceived as a way to accelerate innovation and drive the green transformation of port operations.

At the inception of Ocean Valley, a collaborative effort brought together diverse stakeholders from both Sweden and Denmark. Together, they deliberated on key themes essential to Ocean Valley's mission of fostering a sustainable change within the maritime industry. The following three core themes were identified to propel the green transition of the blue industry forward.
